ALONG THE BANKS OF LAKE GARDA

A group of delightful cities line the east coast, which rises on the gentle slopes of Monte Baldo in a landscape covered with olive groves and vineyards. The ﬁshermen's boats sway in their small harbors, the cafes stretch along the banks of the lake and frequent festivals line the streets and parks with colorful kiosks. The southernmost is Lazise, with medieval walls, followed by Bardolino, Garda and Torri del Benaco at the eastern end Malcesine, with its superb castle, stands on the rock with the ramparts that descend directly onto the lake below.
The enchanting Sirmione is certainly one of the most suggestive destinations of Lake Garda. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and embellished with architectural treasures, such as the Scaglieri Castle and the Roman villa of Catullo, this small city also attracts many tourists for its thermal waters.
Just to the west is Desenzano del Garda, a lively town that rises around a large bay with many bars and restaurants and convenient boat connections, Desenzano is an excellent base for exploring the lake.
